SAO PAULO, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Former Wigan Athletic and Argentine international striker Mauro Boselli has arrived in Brazil to negotiate final details of a move to Corinthians.

The 33-year-old, who has six months remaining on his contract with Mexican side Leon, underwent a medical in Sao Paulo on Friday and is expected to sign a contract with the seven-time Brazilian Serie A champions within days.

"I'm very happy about this new experience," Boselli told reporters upon his arrival at Sao Paulo's international airport. "When the opportunity comes along to join a team as big as Corinthians, you don't hesitate."

Boselli has scored 130 goals in 221 matches for Leon since joining the club from Italy's Palermo in 2013.

He said his compatriots Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano, who represented Corinthians in 2005 and 2006, served as inspiration as he embarks on a new phase in his career.

"Corinthians have had important players like Tevez and Mascherano," he said. "I've played several matches against Brazilian clubs so I know about football here and the importance of Corinthians. I'll be proud to wear the club's shirt."

Boselli, who began his career at Boca Juniors in 2003, was capped four times for Argentina from 2009 to 2011.
