TOKYO, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks made significant gains Monday morning, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index rising over 3 percent at one point, as investors were heartened by Wall Street's solid rebound at the end of last week.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 551.41 points, or 2.82 percent, from Friday to 20,113.37.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 41.71 points, or 2.84 percent, at 1,512.87.
Comprising marine transportation, machinery and electric appliance-oriented issues, all industry categories advanced into positive territory by the morning break.
