GAZA, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- A senior Egyptian security intelligence delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip on Thursday afternoon to hold talks over calm with Israel and internal Palestinian reconciliation with Islamic Hamas officials.
Husam Badran, Hamas politburo member, said in a press statement that the Egyptian delegation arrived in the Gaza Strip through Erez crossing point on the border between northern Gaza Strip and Israel.
He said that the major issues to be discussed between the two sides included the resumption of talks related to the commitment of Israel to the Egyptian-brokered calm understanding reached between Israel and Hamas last November.
Badran added that another issue will be the stalled internal reconciliation talks between Hamas and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah party, and the disputes between the two rivals that led to the closure of Rafah crossing with Egypt.
Security sources in Gaza said that the Egyptian delegation will discuss the development of the crisis between Fatah and Hamas which resulted in the withdrawal of the Palestinian Authority employees who left their offices from Rafah crossing earlier this week.
