ISTANBUL, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- A tire of a military plane blew out as it touched down on a runway on Thursday at the Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, an official from the Turkish Airlines said.
The runway was then closed to landing traffic, as landings and take-offs of the planes were directed to another track in a controlled manner, said the official, who spoke under condition of anonymity.
As a result, some flights were delayed, while several others had to hover in the air waiting for landing, he added.
The cause of the incident was not immediately clear.
