GAZA, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- A Palestinian woman was killed on Friday during clashes between hundreds of Palestinian demonstrators and Israeli soldiers stationed on the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, medics said.

A Palestinian woman was killed and 15 wounded by Israeli soldiers' gunfire during clashes in eastern Gaza Strip, close to the border with Israel, said Gaza Health Ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qedra said in a press statement.

Paramedics and medical sources said that the injured people include two in serious condition and one local photo journalist.

The Israeli media reported that 12,000 demonstrators gathered on Friday afternoon along with the border between eastern Gaza Strip and Israel, joining the 42nd Friday of the anti-Israel event called the "Great March of Return," which started at the end of March 2018.

The report said that Palestinian demonstrators threw around 17 handmade bombs at Israeli army patrols who were present at the borderline area. No injuries of Israelis have been reported.

According to Israeli army briefings, the demonstrators have also vandalized the barbed wire of the fence of the border and released dozens of arson balloons from the area into southern Israel.
