WARSAW, Jan.13 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands and Poland will jointly host the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship, the world volleyball governing body (FIVB) announced at the Polish Volleyball Association's 90th anniversary celebrations here on Saturday.

"We conducted a very competitive bid process and unanimously decided that the joint bid of the Netherlands and Poland was the best bid for the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship," FIVB president Ary Graca said.

According to FIVB, the extensive experience in delivering world-class volleyball events and large fan base of the two countries are the reasons behind their successful joint bid.

"We have no doubt that they will put on a great show in 2022, delivering the ultimate experience for athletes and providing the best entertainment for fans, inside and outside the venues," the president added.

Netherlands women's team broke into the semifinals in the 2016 Olympic Games and the 2018 World Championship while Poland men's team won their second consecutive World Championship title last year.

The last edition of FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship was held in Japan last year when Serbia won the title for the first time while China finished third.
