Oman inks gas deal with Italian energy giant over shared exploration of Block 47

MUSCAT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The Omani government on Monday signed a gas deal with Oman Oil Company Exploration and Production (OOCEP) and the Italian oil and gas company Eni SpA (Eni) over shared exploration of Block 47.

According to the deal, Eni will have a 90-percent participating ownership of Block 47, while the remaining 10 percent goes to OOCEP.

Block 47, located in the northern governate of Ad Dakhiliyah, covers an approximate area of 8, 524 square km.
