WASHINGTON, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr Tuesday confirmed that center DeMarcus Cousins is on his track to make season debut over the weekend.

After Tuesday's practice, Kerr said that Cousins remains on track to suit up for Friday's game against the LA Clippers.

The team has spent the past couple of weeks more intensely planning for Cousins' return and how he will be incorporated into different rotations throughout games, while the player, who has been sidelined for nearly a year, is also making significant strides with his condition in recent scrimmages.

Cousins tore his left Achilles tendon last January when he played for the New Orleans Pelicans. The 28-year-old joined the Warriors this season. Cousins averaged 25.2 points, 12.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists with the Pelicans before his injury.

"It's a relief. It's been a long year for me, a lot of ups and downs. But the finish line is ahead and I'm extremely excited to be back on the floor," Cousins said last week.
