ACCRA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Ghana FA's Normalization Committee (NC) said on Thursday that the planned restart of domestic football will help clubs and players return to normal.
The NC has proposed resuming local football in Ghana with a tournament involving all 48 Division 1 teams and 16 Premier League clubs.
The competition is expected to start early next month, with funding from the government.
In a release issued in Accra, the NC said it appreciates the support of the government in providing funds for the competition, as sponsorship of the game has been limited.
The committee added that this funding would open the door for other sponsors to come on board.
"As the process of normalizing football continues, this tournament will be an opportunity for all parties to commence the process of operationally running the active game differently."
"This restart creates an opportunity for all to get involved in a new phase of Ghana's football story," said the release.
Football activities were dissolved in June 2018 following the premiere of a documentary by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas which exposed corruption in Ghana's football administration.
The investigative video has claimed a number of casualties in the African football fraternity, including referees caught on tape receiving bribes in order to influence games.
Ex-Ghana FA president Kwesi Nyantakyi has already received a lifetime ban by football's global governing body FIFA.
