THE HAGUE, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- Despite a 2-2 draw at FC Emmen, PSV have kept the first place in the Dutch Eredivisie on Sunday, with Ajax drawing 4-4 at home with sc Heerenveen in Amsterdam.

Luuk de Jong opened the scoring for the league leaders at FC Emmen. PSV had goals by Denzel Dumfries (offside) and Pablo Rosario (handball) disallowed, but with the goal by Angelino on an assist by Steven Bergwijn, the visitors seemed to secure a win in the 71st minute.

However, with two late goals, FC Emmen substitute Nicklas Pedersen earned the home-team a sensational 2-2. The last goal came in injury time.

The draw meant Ajax could claim the first place in the Eredivisie for the first time since May 8, 2016, with a win later on Sunday against sc Heerenveen. Dusan Tadic pointed Ajax the way with an early goal, and after Sam Lammers equalized with a solo effort, Tadic chipped the Amsterdam based giants in front again. Matthijs de Ligt headed in the third home goal via Heerenveen player Pelle van Amersfoort.

Tadic missed a penalty on the stroke of half-time, which proved to be a costly mistake. In the second half Lammers finished another solo effort and the striker, on loan from PSV, also assisted the equalizer from Mitchell van Bergen in a counter attack. Substitute Klaas-Jan Huntelaar gave Ajax the lead again in the 83rd minute, but Kik Pierie ruined the evening for Ajax in injury time.

PSV now lead the Eredivisie with 49 points from 18 matches, two points ahead of Ajax. Feyenoord, which lost 3-1 on Saturday to PEC Zwolle, coached by Jaap Stam, are third on 13 points points from PSV.
