Kenya wins almost all places in Myanmar's Yangon Int'l Marathon 2019

YANGON, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Kenya won almost all places in Myanmar's 7th Yoma Yangon International Marathon 2019, held at the Thuwuna National Indoor Stadium on Sunday, Myanmar News Agency reported Monday.

In the men's full marathon, Kenya won the first, second and third places, while in the women's full marathon, Kenya won the first and second places with Myanmar being the third.

In the men's and women's half marathon, Kenya won first, second and third places.

In the men's 10-km challenges, Kenya won the first and second places, while Myanmar won the third.

In the women's 10-km challenge, Myanmar won the first, second and third places.

Jointly organized by Yoma Strategic Holdings Ltd, First Myanmar Investment Public Company Ltd and Yangon City Development Committee, the 7th Yoma Yangon International Marathon 2019 was opened on Sunday morning by flagging off the 42-km full marathon and the 21-km half marathon.

Two more categories of the event -- 10-km challenge and 3-km fun run/walk were also flagged off at the Thuwuna National Indoor Stadium.

The race was laid along significant landmarks in Yangon such as Botataung Pagoda, Shwedagon Pagoda and Inya Lake.

There were a total of 600 participants from countries and regions such as Britain, China, France, the Hong Kong S.A.R., Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
