SINGAPORE, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 0.12 percent, or 3.78 points, to close at 3,220.56.
A total of 1.79 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 916.71 million Singapore dollars (about 674.30 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 207 to 183.
The STI index went up 0.31 percent or 9.9 points to close at 3,224.34 last Friday.
