RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Former Argentina international striker Hernan Barcos has left Cruzeiro by mutual consent, just six months after joining the Brazilian club from LDU Quito.
The 34-year-old, who had been contracted with Cruzeiro until June this year, scored just three goals in 24 matches for the Belo Horizonte-based club.
"[We] inform that Hernan Barcos is leaving and wish to thank him for his commitment to the club," Cruzeiro said in a statement.
"He was responsible for the decisive and unforgettable goals that eliminated Palmeiras in the semifinal stage of the Copa do Brasil, directly helping [us] to win the competition for a sixth time."
Barcos, who has been capped four times for Argentina's national team, has been linked with a move to Cruzeiro's Brazilian rivals Sao Paulo and Atletico Mineiro.
