Indonesian duo defeat Chinese world champs Li-Liu at Indonesian Masters 2019

JAKARTA, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian shuttlers Hendra Setiawan and Muhammad Ahsan stunned Chinese 2018 World Tour Finals champions Li Junhui and Liu Yuchen 21-16, 21-12 in the men's doubles quarterfinals at the 2019 Indonesian Masters at the Istora Senayan sport stadium.

During the march, Hendra and Ahsan faced tough resistance from the second seeds, but with strong support from Indonesian spectators, the home favorites managed to win the match in 48 minutes.

In the forthcoming semifinal scheduled on Saturday, Hendra and Ahsan will face another Chinese duo, Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong, who beat Hiroyuki Endo and Yuta Watanabe of Japan 23-21, 21-19.

A total of 36 Indonesian shuttlers are fighting to meet the target of at least two golds in the tournament set by the country's badminton association.

The 2019 Indonesian Masters kicked off on January 22 and will end on January 27. Players from 20 countries and regions are competing in the tournament for a total prize pot of 350,000 U.S. dollars.
