JAKARTA, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- Indian Saina Nehwal won the women's singles title of the 2019 Indonesia Masters badminton tournament on Sunday after Spanish Carolina Marin retired with injury.

Marin sustained the injury when she landed awkwardly following a powerful strike in the 10th minute of the first game when she led 9-3.

She held her right knee after the hard landing and Nehwal came up to console Marin.

Marin received an on-court treatment before she decided to pull out of the final.

Nehwal earned 26,250 U.S. dollars of rewards as the champion.
