BEIJING, Jan. 31 (Xinhua) -- As shown by a recent survey of 2,001 Chinese young couples, 70 percent are faced with the dilemma of whose parents to spend the Lunar New Year with.

As the Spring Festival (Chinese New Year) holiday approaches, young people living away from their parents return home to join their family members as a tradition to celebrate the festival.

But for married couples, choosing which parents to stay with has become a serious issue.

According to the survey published by the China Youth Daily, 27.7 percent of the respondents choose to join the husband's parents this year and 20.6 percent will stay with the wife's family, with 33.8 percent planning to visit both sides during the seven-day holiday.

"It's important for Chinese people to reunite with their families during the Spring Festival," an anonymous Beijing-based office worker was quoted as saying. "We decided to visit them both to take good care of both sides."
