BEIRUT, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) -- Hezbollah's deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem said on Friday that his party will not be affected by the U.S. sanctions, but to the contrary such sanctions will increase the party's convictions and power.

"We consider that these sanctions are an integral part of the challenges we are facing. We will face these sanctions because our motive is ideological, and this ideological motivation gives us the will to sacrifice and to be patient," Qassem was quoted as saying by the National News Agency.

Qassem's remarks came during a meeting to discuss Lebanon's political developments.

Qassem said that all the crises that the Arab world is facing are caused by the United States.

"Israel is not strong by itself, and it is the United States that supports its existence in the region," said Qassem.

He added that "the crisis in Syria is caused by America; the crisis that took place in Lebanon from 1975 to 1990 was because of America, and America is also behind the problems taking place inside Lebanon because America is the root of evil."
