NEW DELHI, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Popular TV actress Shilpa Shinde joined the main opposition Indian National Congress (INC) party on Tuesday in the financial capital of Mumbai.
According to media reports, she might contest in the ensuing parliamentary elections from the "North Mumbai" constituency in the south-western state of Maharashtra.
After formally joining the INC, Shilpa said that she would like to see INC President and parliamentarian Rahul Gandhi as the country's next prime minister after the ensuing parliamentary polls slated to be held sometime in April-May this year.
Shilpa Shinde has worked in several TV serials, but gained immense popularity after she won the popular reality show on the small screen "Big Boss" last year.
