TOKYO, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- Japan's famous fast-food restaurant chain Yoshinoya Co. has admitted that cockroaches were found in a chicken bowl served last year at one of its outlets, local media reported Tuesday.

The fast food chain, mainly known for its mainstay beef bowls, said Monday that a customer complained about finding small cockroaches in the food he ordered in October last year at a Yoshinoya branch in the city of Fukuoka.

A Yoshinoya manager confirmed the presence of cockroaches and then closed the store to dispose of all the ingredients and materials, the company said.

Yoshinoya said it is taking measures to prevent such incidents from reoccurring, as local food safety authorities have instructed the company to reinforce food sanitation management.

This is one of the complaints reported in recent years that involved Japanese restaurant chains and food producers.
