HAVANA, Feb. 6 (Xinhua) -- A U.S. plan to deliver humanitarian aid to Venezuela serves as a pretext for a military incursion in the South American country, Cuba's Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said Wednesday.

Washington is preparing to militarily support Venezuela's conservative opposition groups in overthrowing the government of President Nicolas Maduro, said Rodriguez.

"'Humanitarian assistance' continues to be imposed as an excuse for military aggression," he added.

In the power struggle between Venezuela's ruling party and the opposition, the White House has thrown its weight behind opposition leader Juan Guaido, the president of the National Assembly who declared himself interim president.

Guaido announced recently that humanitarian aid collection centers were being set up in Colombia, Brazil and a Caribbean island, which, Rodriguez said, could serve as strategic points for potential military strikes.
