Handanovic appointed to captain Inter Milan

ROMA, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Samir Handanovic has replaced Mauro Icardi as Inter Milan's new captain, the Italian Serie A giants announced on Wednesday.

The Nerazzurri confirmed the alteration on tweet but didn't disclose any further explanations for the change.

As the star player of Inter, Icardi has scored nine goals this season, but the Argentinean is still yet to renew his contract with Inter.

Goalkeeper Handanovic has made 275 appearances for Inter since arriving from Udinese in 2012.
