ABU DHABI, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- World No. 5 Karolina Pliskova announced to withdraw from the injury-hit Qatar Open on Wednesday, citing an excuse of "not feeling great."

The former top-rated player in the WTA rankings became the fifth player to pull out, joining former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, Ashleigh Barty, Caroline Garcia, and newly-crowned Australian Open champion Naomi Osaka.

"From the first day I was not feeling great and not ready," the Czech No. 2 seed said.

"I don't have any neck pain or something, but I just feel overall like super tired, and my muscles are just hurting from the morning without even doing anything," added Pliskova, who played Fed Cup over the weekend.

She's due to play her first match of the tournament against Elise Mertens from Belgium on Wednesday, and her twin sister Kristyna Pliskova took her place following her withdrawal.
