TEHRAN, Feb. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran's President Hassan Rouhani said Wednesday that Iran will stand firm in the face of U.S. sanction pressures.

Washington is targeting the Iranian nation with an "economic, propaganda and psychological war," Rouhani was quoted as saying by Press TV.

However, the Iranians will defend their dignity and independence, and will not "surrender to the enemy," he said.

"If our nation gives in to the United States, then it will have to capitulate until the end; this would mean that we should abandon our country, dignity, independence and identity," he added.

On Monday, Rouhani said that Iranian people will unite to tackle problems created by powers such as the United States.

Iran will not allow the United States to achieve its ends by exerting sanction pressures and creating challenges for Iran, Rouhani said.

Last November, the United States announced re-imposition of full sanctions on Iran covering its oil exports and banking sectors, months after Washington's exit from the 2015 landmark Iranian nuclear deal.
