KUWAIT CITY, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait launched on Monday an academic initiative to discover and bolster the country's future leaders, said a Kuwaiti youth center.

At a press conference held on Monday at Seif Palace in Kuwait City, RAWAJ Youth Leadership Academy said that the initiative was launched in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Amiri Diwan.

The initiative is the first of its kind in Kuwait and the Gulf region, which aims to discover and develop future leaders of young Kuwaitis, according to the academy.

Such endeavors will give Kuwaiti youths a chance to contribute to the development of their country and hone their skills, especially at an academic level, Fatima Al-Mousawi, one of the organizers of the initiative, said at the press conference.

Anfal Al-Roudhan, one of the masterminds behind the initiative, explained that the initiative consists of five educational and training courses for 17 days.

The program is dedicated to students between the ages of 16 and 18 in Kuwait, Al-Roudhan said, noting that the program is composed of five parts, each focusing on a combination of learning and doing.

Four parts will be carried out in Kuwait and the fifth at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in Britain, she noted.
