Tokyo stocks extend gains in morning tracking Wall Street's rise

TOKYO, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Monday morning with the market mood buoyed my Wall Street's rise late last week, while the yen's softer tone against the U.S. dollar helped lift exporter-linked issues.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 146.60 points, or 0.68 percent, from Friday to 21,572.11.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, added 13.61 points, or 0.85 percent, at 1,623.13.

Glass and ceramics product, nonferrous metal and electric appliance-oriented issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
