RAMALLAH, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is ready to respond to any invitation from Russia for a three-way meeting with Israeli prime minister in Moscow, said a report by the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA).

Palestinian president spokesperson Nabil Abu Rudeinha slammed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's statements in which he said that there is no Palestinian counterpart and he is willing to meet a Palestinian leader.

He said that Abbas agreed to meeting with Netanyahu in Moscow, but Netanyahu evaded from this meeting.

According to WAFA, Abbas "has always been ready to respond to the request of Russian President Vladimir Putin to such a meeting with the current Israeli prime minister or any forthcoming Israeli prime ministers after next elections in order to achieve just and lasting peace."

Peace talks between Israel and the Palestinians have been stalled since 2014 after nine months of U.S.-sponsored talks without making any progress to resolve the conflict between the two sides.
