KUWAIT CITY, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Kuwait held on Saturday the third Children's Marathon with an aim to inspire and empower children of all fitness, health, and lifestyle.
The event was organized by a local Kuwaiti internet service provider in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate in central Kuwait with the participation of children aged 2 to 12.
Neeveen Tawfiq, one of the organizers, said that the marathon is a family day's activity to entertain and enrich children with knowledge and fitness.
"This activity is considered among the most important in promoting sports and well being among upcoming generations," she said.
Each year, the race income is donated to some social institutes in Kuwait to support their activities, and this year the Red Crescent and Dasman Institute of Kuwait were selected to support children with diabetes, she noted.
The race was attended by 800 children participants. They were divided as 2-4 years old to run for 500 meters, 5-6 year for 750 meters, 7-9 years for 1,000 meters and 10-12 years for 1,250 meters.
