Iraqi citizen confirmed dead in New Zealand terrorist attacks

BAGHDAD, March 16 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi Foreign Ministry confirmed on Saturday death of one of its citizens in mass shootings at two mosques in New Zealand.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Hakim sent a letter of condolences to the mother of Hussein al-Amri, who was killed in the attack.

Late on Friday, Ahmad al-Sahaf, the Foreign Ministry's spokesman, said in a statement that another Iraqi national was injured by the attacks.

Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in a statement that "it strongly condemns this crime."

On Friday, gunmen opened fire at two separate mosques in New Zealand's city of Christchurch, leaving at least 49 people dead and 48 others wounded.
