TEHRAN, March 18 (Xinhua) -- An Iranian border guard was killed in a clash with an armed group in Iran's western Kurdistan province, official IRNA news agency reported on Monday.
The armed group intended to enter the country on Sunday night to carry out acts of sabotage, the report said.
The Iranian border guard, Abouzar Hamzeh Kord Khordi, was killed in the clash erupted at the Baneh border post, near the border village of Sarab, between the Iranian security guards and the gunmen.
The gunmen fled the scene and failed to enter the country, the report said.
