KUWAIT CITY, March 20 (Xinhua) -- Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Sabah expressed on Wednesday his appreciation for the U.S. efforts to solve the Gulf crisis.

"We appreciate the U.S. efforts and support to solve the Gulf crisis," Al-Sabah said during his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in the capital Kuwait City.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain and Egypt severed diplomatic ties with Qatar in 2017, accusing Doha of backing terrorism. Qatar has repeatedly denied the accusations.

"Kuwait has strategic relations with the U.S.," said the Kuwaiti minister.

On Yemen, he said Kuwait agrees with the United States that "it is essential to solve the Yemeni crisis."

"We believe in the U.S. friendship with several countries of the region which would lead to an accepted solution to the Palestinian issue," the Kuwaiti minister added.
