SAN FRANCISCO, March 21 (Xinhua) -- Tencent Cloud, a cloud computing branch of China's internet giant, on Thursday presented its leading cloud solutions for game companies and developers at the 2019 Game Developers Conference (GDC).

At the five-day event, Tencent Cloud unveiled its leading Global Application Acceleration Platform (GAAP) and Game Multimedia Engine technology for world game developers to facilitate their sophisticated game development and operation.

The company said its cloud ecosystem supports games across their full life cycle and the GAAP, which has covered 25 regions and operated 53 availability zones worldwide, features 5T bandwidth and Tencent's anti-Distributed Denial of Service (DDOS) attack technology that offers gamers high-quality, stable and secure gaming experience.

"The GAAP solution cuts latency to under 150 ms for players in China to access U.S.-hosted games," with the error rates in the region down to a comparable level acceptable to U.S. local gamers, said the company.

It said globally renowned game titles, such as PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Mobile, Clash Royale from the Finnish mobile game developer Supercell, and King of Avalon from the Chinese interactive entertainment company FunPlus, have all adopted the GAAP solution.

Tencent Cloud said Tencent's own popular title, King of Glory, which is the world's second-highest-grossing free-to-play online game and earned a whopping 2.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2018, is using the GAAP technology to better serve players outside China.

The GAAP will help take down barriers for developers around the globe to tap into the Chinese market, said the company.

Jack Da, vice president of Tencent Cloud International, told Xinhua earlier Thursday that Tencent will deploy more resources on infrastructure, technology, and operations to support cloud gaming.

Also at the GDC 2019, U.S. internet giant Google launched its Stadia cloud gaming service. Stadia will stream games onto any device that can run Chrome.

The GDC 2019 started Monday in downtown San Francisco. It attracted more than 550 exhibiting companies from across the world, among which are Sony, Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Capcom, Bungie, Epic Games and Bethesda Softworks.
