MACAO, March 28 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Macao International Environmental Cooperation Forum and Exhibition (MIECF), organized by the government of China's Macao Special Administrative Region, attracted more than 500 exhibitors from about 20 countries and regions on Thursday.

The three-day event, with the theme of promoting ecological civilization and green development, served as an platform for promoting global environmental technology transfer and sustainable development.

It also meant to support the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative and the implementation of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and promote the Pan-Pearl River Delta cooperation.

The forum featured eight green forums and a keynote speaker special session with around 70 speakers from various countries and regions sharing their insights into ways toward ecological civilization, green finance, and other international frontier environmental issues.

The forum also set up a "Greenovation Zone" to offer displays and networking activities related to innovative green technologies, and promote the application and exchange of innovative environmentally-friendly technologies.

The MIECF was launched in 2008 and this year is its 12th edition. Last year's forum witnessed the signing of 35 agreements and 349 on-site business matching sessions.
