Shenzhen to host 2019 table tennis China Open in May

BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 table tennis China Open will be held from May 28 to June 2 at the Bao'an stadium in China's southern coastal city of Shenzhen.

As a platinum event on the ITTF World Tour, the 2019 China Open consists of five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. The total prize money of the event stands at 400,000 U.S. dollars, with the singles champion achieving 2250 ITTF World Tour ranking points. More than 200 players from China and overseas are expected to take part.

First held in 1988, the China Open has featured on the ITTF World Tour every year since the Tour's inception in 1996. In that time, 22 different cities have hosted the event, and more than 4,000 players have taken part, with previous winners including Ma Long, Wang Liqin, Hao Shuai, Zhang Jike and Timo Boll.
