BEIRUT, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Energy Minister Nada Boustani announced on Thursday that the council of ministers approved the launch of the country's second licensing round for offshore oil and gas exploration, local media reported.
"The deadline to submit offers is January 2020," Boustani was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.
In February 2018, Lebanon signed its first offshore oil and gas exploration and production contracts for two energy blocks with a consortium of France's Total, Italy's Eni and Russia's Novatek.
Walid Nasr, chairman of the Lebanese petroleum administration, announced less than a week ago that oil and gas discovery in Lebanon's maritime territories is expected to take place after one year.
