AUGUSTA, United States, April 10 (Xinhua) -- The Augusta National Golf Club will provide fans with more up-to-the-minute highlights of the Masters across multiple platforms, according to the club's chairman Fred Ridley on Wednesday.
"For the first time ever in golf, we will capture virtually every shot of every player during every competitive round," Ridley said during his press conference on Wednesday.
"This extensive library of content will be available on our website and apps. Within minutes of every shot, this added content will now allow our fans online to follow their favorite players from their drive off the first tee to their final putt on the 18th green. With a lot of work, we were able to develop this. We want to provide content to our fans in the way they want to receive it, because the world is migrating more and more towards digital technology," he said.
Ridley also said that the club hopes to expand coverage of the tournament in traditional way, with the latest initiative of the construction of a "global broadcast village" north of a main road outside the course. The club will use a connecting tunnel under the road.
A total of 87 golfers will take part in the four-day tournament which kicks off on Thursday.
"Thanks to the excellent work of our golf course and nursery teams, we are ready to provide a proper test for the best players in the world," Ridley said.
