KAMPALA, April 11 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has named its squad to compete in the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament slated for April 14-28 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

Head coach Paa Samuel Kwesi Fabin told Xinhua by telephone on Thursday from neighboring Kenya where the team is camped that his first target will be to qualify for the U-17 FIFA World Cup later this year.

The best two teams from the two groups will automatically qualify for the World Cup to be held in Brazil.

Uganda is pooled alongside Nigeria, Angola and Tanzania in Group A, while Group B has Cameroon, Senegal, Morocco and Guinea.

Uganda will open their campaign against Angola on April 14.

The Ghanaian-born Kwesi Fabin said they will treat every match like a final and it will be important to win the opening game to get more motivated.

This is the first time that Uganda has qualified for the U-17 AFCON.

The others are Polycarp Mwaka, Edrin Opaala Mukisa, John Kokas Alou, James Jarieko, Ivan Asaba, Najib Yiga, Isma Mugulusi, Rogers Mugisha, Justine Opiro, and Andrew Kawooya.
