KABUL, April 21 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan on Sunday condemned in the strongest terms the serial blasts that hit Sri Lanka's capital Colombo earlier in the day, said the country's Presidential Palace.

Over 200 people were killed and 460 others were injured after eight explosions shook Colombo during the day.

"Attacking churches and hotels and targeting worshipers is appalling, and Afghanistan strongly condemns this heinous act of terror. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families, and we stand in solidarity with Sri Lanka on this dark day," the Presidential Palace tweeted.

Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, on behalf of the Afghan people, strongly condemned the Sri Lanka blasts and sent his deepest condolences to the victims and their families who lost their dear ones on this sacred Sunday, according to the Presidential Palace.
