BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- An exhibition commemorating the 100th birthday of famed Chinese artist Wu Guanzhong opened at the National Art Museum of China (NAMOC) Thursday.

Jointly organized by NAMOC and Tsinghua University, the exhibition showcases 58 pieces of Wu's work.

Wu was a native of Yixing in east China's Jiangsu Province and went to France to study Western painting for three years in 1947.

He taught at leading institutions such as the Central Academy of Fine Arts and Tsinghua University.

An internationally acclaimed painter, Wu integrated Chinese ink and wash with Western methods.

Before he passed away, Wu held four exhibitions at NAMOC, to which he also donated dozens of works.

The exhibition lasts until May 5.
