MONTREAL, April 27 (Xinhua) -- 14-year-old Chinese diver Lu Wei shook off pressure to clinch the title of the women's 10m platform at the 2019 FINA/CNSG diving world series here on Saturday.
Lu Wei and teammate Zhang Jiaqi failed to snatch their third consecutive gold of the women's 10m platform synchronized at the world series, as they took home a bronze on Friday. Kim Mi Rae and Jo Jin Mi of the DPR Korea grabbed the gold medal while Canadian pair Meaghan Benfeito and Caeli McKay finished second.
In the singles platform final on Saturday, Lu was 1.5 points behind Kim Mi Rae after the first dive, but managed to secure the top place since the second round. The 14-year-old finally saw victory with a total score of 423.85 points, followed by experienced teammate Si Yajie in 390.60. Kim Mi Rae was third in 369.80.
The other two gold medals on Saturday were also scooped by the Chinese divers.
Xie Siyi led from the opening dive to win the men's 3m springboard final in 537.65. Jack Laugher of Britain finished second in 508.85. Chinese veteran Cao Yuan finished third in 495.70.
Lian Junjie/Si Yajie prevailed in the mixed 10m platform event in 342.21. Hyon Il Myong/Jo Jin Mi from DPR Korea trailed behind in 320.10 while Russian duo Nikita Shleikher/Iuliia Timoshinina took the bronze in 310.08.
The competition in Montreal has one more day to go with three finals remaining.
