The Challenging Souls: Yves Klein, Lee Ufan, Ding Yi

Venue: Power Station of Art

Introduction:

This avant-garde exhibition brings together three formative figures in modern and contemporary art: French Yven Klein, South Korean Lee Ufan and Ding Yi, a native of Shanghai. It attempts to form a new, global narrative for its genre while showing an impressive range of work from all over the world.

The State Small Theater of Vilnius: The Government Inspector

Date: May 10-12

Venue: Shanghai Daning Theater

Introduction:

Modern Drama Valley, the city's annual theatrical extravaganza, unveils in May. The event, to be held between April 26 and May 12, will present 19 productions from Japan, Russia and Israel. "The Government Inspector," a satirical play by Lithuania's State Small Theater of Vilnius, is one of the hottest dramas during the drama season. Directed by Rimas Tuminas, it is based on Nikolai Gogol's classic novel.

The Vakhtangov Theater: Eugene Onegin

Date: May 9-12

Venue: Shanghai Culture Square

Introduction:

Directed by Rimas Tuminas, "Eugene Onegin" is not a full scenic adaptation of Pushkin's novel in verse. The performance unfolds in the memory and imagination of Pushkin's characters. It is an extremely poetic illustration of Tatyana's love for Onegin, with prologue and epilogue.
