NICOSIA, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Nicosia soccer club APOEL have won their seventh consecutive Cyprus Football Association championship with two rounds to go after a 3-0 win over main rivals Apollon of Limassol on Saturday.
The win helped APOEL build an unsinkable six-point lead in the standings to claim the title with 17 wins, seven draws and four losses.
The Nicosia team will also contest the Soccer Cup in the final to be played on May 22 and stand a good chance to win the double for the third time in the last seven years.
APOEL will play in the European Championship, where it made history by reaching the quarterfinals as one of the eight best European teams in the 2011-12 season.
