TEHRAN, May 7 (Xinhua) -- Iraqi international midfielder Humam Tariq was sacked from Iran's Esteghlal soccer team after he protested the team's officials for not giving him playing time, Tehran Times daily reported on Tuesday.
Humam left the team after he got to know that he was not in the list for the match against Al Duhail of Qatar in the AFC Champions League on Monday.
Newly-appointed Esteghlal coach Farhad Majidi said there is no place for Humam in Esteghlal.
Esteghlal were held to a 1-1 draw by the Qatari giants on Monday and were knocked out of the AFC Champions League.
