DAR ES SALAAM, May 9 (Xinhua) -- The German government will build a state-of-the-art military hospital in Tanzania's capital, Dodoma, the presidency said on Thursday.

A statement issued by the Directorate Presidential Communication at State House in the commercial capital Dar es Salaam said the construction of the hospital was announced by German Ambassador to Tanzania Detlef Wäechter during talks with President John Magufuli.

The German envoy said the construction of the military hospital was part of the 2021-2024 German aid program to the Tanzania People's Defense Forces, according to the statement.

The statement said the meeting was also attended by a high-level delegation from the German ministries of defense and foreign affairs.

The statement said the German delegation also promised to offer Tanzania medical facilities and train the east African nation's military medical personnel.

In the current Tanzania-Germany army friendship program that started in June 2017 through March 2019, the German government built a state-of-the-art zonal hospital in Monduli, in the northern region of Arusha, the statement said.

President Magufuli thanked the German government for its continued development assistance to Tanzania aimed at improving the welfare of its people.
