Palmeiras move to top of Brazil's Serie A

RIO DE JANEIRO, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Bruno Henrique scored either side of halftime as defending champions Palmeiras climbed to the top of the Brazilian Serie A standings on Sunday with a 2-0 win at Atletico Mineiro.

The 29-year-old midfielder put the visitors ahead by firing in from 30 yards in the 43rd minute and he struck from outside the box again seven minutes after the interval.

The result at the Mineirao stadium lifted Palmeiras to 10 points from four matches, ahead of Santos and Sao Paulo on goal difference.

In Rio de Janeiro, goals from Vitinho and Lincoln gave Flamengo a 2-1 home victory over Chapecoense, who netted a consolation goal through Wellington Pereira in the 92nd minute.

In other matches on Sunday, Santos won 3-0 at home to Vasco da Gama, Internacional secured a 3-1 home win over Cruzeiro, CSA drew 0-0 at Avai, Athletico Paranaense won 1-0 at home over Bahia and Sao Paulo prevailed 1-0 at Fortaleza.
