PARIS, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Registration for the Sun Trip 2020 cycling challenge linking China with France has been commenced, organizers revealed on Friday.

The Sun Trip company, who founded the challenge back in 2013, told Xinhua in an email that they have received 50 application files, including four from China.

The challenge is characterized by taking solar energy as the sole means of electricity charging and conservation for bicycles.

It attracted over 50 participants from 10 countries and regions, aged between 23 and 70, last year for the third edition.

Starting from Lyon, France, the 2018 Sun Trip challenge covered 12,000km en route to southern Chinese city of Guangzhou, the first time for the tournament to draw a conclusion in China, seeing the 43-year-old Belgian Raf Van Hulle triumphant after 45 days.

The 2020 edition's challenge will keep Lyon and Guangzhou as its starting point and destination respectively.

"We want to find more Chinese participants for the 2020 edition," the organizers said.
