WINDHOEK, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Namibia needed two second-half goals to beat Mozambique in their opening Group B game at the COSAFA Cup on Sunday in Durban, South Africa.
Joslyn Kamatuka and Absalom Iimbondi got on the score sheet to hand Namibia a 2-1 win over Mozambique in the annual tournament for South African teams.
After a goalless first half, Kamatuka pounced on a 69th-minute cross from Iimbondi to make it 1-0 for Namibia.
However, Mozambique substitute Witi let rip a free-kick on the 78th minutes, leaving captain and goalkeeper Loydt Kazapua with no chance in goal.
The eventful second half was settled by Iimbodi, who received the ball on the left and arrowed a shot into the top left corner eight minutes from time for the victory. He was named man of the match with an assist and a goal.
Llyewen Stanley and McCartney Naweseb made their international debut for Namibia, who will play group leaders Malawi on Tuesday at the King Zelitwini Stadium in Umlazi, Durban in their second Group B game.
