BEIJING, May 31 (Xinhua) -- The following is a list of major shows, concerts, exhibitions and events in China on Saturday, June 1:

-- Musical "Qu Yuan"

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Location: Century Theater, Beijing

The domestic musical "Qu Yuan" will be staged at Beijing Century Theater on Saturday evening following its Friday debut.

Focusing on the last night of Qu Yuan's life, the musical aims to unveil the innermost emotions of the great poet of the Warring States Period (475 B.C.-221 B.C.). It blurs the line between reality and the imagination by visualizing the scenes described in Qu Yuan's best known works.

-- Saraste and China NCPA orchestra concert

Location: National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Beijing

The China NCPA Orchestra will present excerpts from Maurice Ravel's "Mother Goose" and E.B. Britten's "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" along with Finnish conductor Jukka-Pekka Saraste.

"Mother Goose" was composed by Ravel as a childlike and imaginative four-hand piano music piece, and later adapted into an orchestra version. "Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" is an instructive work that showcases the audience the tone of each and every instrument of an orchestra and their roles.
