URUMQI, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China League's Xinjiang Tianshan Leopard FC released a letter of condolence for their former player Jose Antonio Reyes on Saturday night, who died in a traffic accident at the age of 35.
"We are sad to hear such a horrible news. As a foreign player, veteran Reyes showed his dedication on the field and influenced every teammate," Tianshan Leopard FC said.
Reyes moved to Xinjiang on a free transfer when his contract with Spanish second division side Cordoba expired last summer.
The Spanish winger scored 4 goals in 14 matches for Xinjiang, who left the club at the end of season.
A moment of silence for Reyes will be held on before Xinjiang FC's match on Sunday.
"He was a very dedicated player, we will be with his family at this moment," Sun Aijun, the chairman of Xinjiang club said.
