DOHA, June 2 (Xinhua) -- Qatari Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani expressed his country's reservations over the final statements of the Gulf and Arab summits held in Mecca, Arab TV reported on Sunday.
"The Mecca summits ignored the important issues in the region, such as the issue of Palestine and the wars in Libya and Yemen, and we wish to lay the foundations of a dialogue to reduce the tension with Iran," the minister was quoted as saying.
The Saudi city of Mecca hosted on May 30 emergency summits called by Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in light of recent attacks on commercial ships near the United Arab Emirates (UAE) waters and two oil pump stations in Saudi Arabia.
Qatar's Prime Minister Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani represented Doha in the summits.
It was the first time that Qatar had participated in the summits since the ongoing Gulf crisis broke out on June 5, 2017 after Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt severed diplomatic relations with Qatar, accused of supporting terrorism, a charge Doha has repeatedly denied.
