European, South American football clubs to compete in China's Sinobo Guoan Cup

BEIJING, June 4 (Xinhua) -- Eight U-18 football teams from across the globe will compete in the inaugural Sinobo Guoan Cup in Beijing later this year.

Youth sides from Chinese Super League clubs Beijing Sinobo Guoan and Hebei China Fortune will be joined by three teams from Europe and three from South America.

European interest comes in the form of English Premier League club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Slavia Prague of the Czech Republic, and Dutch league runners-up PSV Eindhoven.

The South American clubs set to take part are Boca Juniors of Argentina, Brazil's Cruzeiro, and Uruguayan side Nacional.

The 2019 Sinobo Guoan Cup will take place from June 5 to 10.

Host Guoan club hopes the event will grow into one classic club competition.

"This is the first time that Guoan club stages such a big tournament and we are determined to keep hosting the event which we hope will become a classic event in the future," said Zhang Zhijun, vice general manager of Guoan club.
